Attacks on America - 1983 Beirut barracks bombing
The Beirut barracks bombing was a major incident on October 23, 1983, during the Lebanese Civil War. Two truck bombs struck separate buildings in Beirut that housed United States and French military forces—members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon—killing hundreds of servicemen, the majority of whom were U.S. Marines. The blasts led to the withdrawal of the international peacekeeping force from Lebanon, where they had been stationed since the Israeli 1982 invasion of Lebanon. The organization Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the bombing, but that organization is thought to have been a nom de guerre for Hezbollah receiving help from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

ReplyDeleteThe information of this attack is new for me. I think its really cruel all the attacks like that that they do, because the serviceman and the U.S. marines they send are not guilty for the problems the nations have, but on a war I think acts like that make the attackers leave. But I don’t think violence is the way, because the big majority of the soldiers and marines they send to the wars have families that leave behind in their country, and I its really tough to loose family. I think the U.S. is a target for negative attacks; by the way it interferes in other countries, like their businesses, like in their politics, economy, etc.
